Ziad Zarka appointed as MONTFORT General Counsel in Dubai 

MONTFORT, a global commodity trading and related-asset investment company, has recently appointed Ziad Zarka (pictured) as its new General Counsel in Dubai. Zarka brings over 25 years of senior and executive roles in legal, compliance, and corporate governance, having served seven multi-billion dollar US and international entities across four industries. 

In his new role as General Counsel, Zarka will be responsible for managing MONTFORT’s global legal and compliance affairs, including KYC/KYV processes, group structure, and corporate secretarial matters. He will also serve as a Board Member. 

Zarka began his career as an attorney for Shell Oil company in Houston, Texas in 1996. Since then, he has held various roles, the most recent of which is chief legal officer (acting) at Qatar Free Zone Authority, where he managed the legal department. Prior to that, he served as general counsel & corporate secretary at Muntajat, where he established and managed the Law and Compliance Department and Corporate Governance. 

Zarka’s experience also includes serving as general counsel of Qatar International Petroleum Marketing Company – Tasweeq, where he established and managed the Legal and Compliance Department and had responsibilities for Corporate Governance. He also advised on marketing and sales, finance, labor, antitrust, international trade, and anti-corruption compliance. 

Zarka’s extensive experience in managing risks associated with antitrust, international trade, and anti-corruption compliance, and advising globally on different legal, regulatory, and compliance and transaction matters, will undoubtedly contribute to MONTFORT’s success in managing its legal and compliance affairs.
