MBH advises on 5 aviation transactions worth millions of dollars

Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy’s (MBH) aviation team advised World Star Aviation and ST Engineering Aerospace Resources (ST Engineering) regarding the leasing of an Airbus model A320-214 aircraft to Air Cairo and leasing an Airbus model A320-232 P2F to Sky Vision respectively, marking both World Star Aviation and ST Engineering’s entry into the Egyptian market.

MBH also acted as local Egyptian counsel to FTAI Aviation on the lease of an Airbus A320
200 aircraft to Air Cairo and as lead counsel to Dubai Aerospace Enterprise in connection with the lease of a Boeing B737-800 aircraft to EgyptAir.
The MBH Aviation team successfully secured the repossession, deregistration and export of an aircraft from Egypt, securing the asset on behalf of one of its international clients.

Partner and head of aviation Sherif El Hosseny (pictured) led MBH’s team, together with associate Aya Omar, and associate Malak Al Amiry. They were joined by other international firms including Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman and Reed Smith.

Sherif El Hosseny commented on the transactions, affirming: “I firmly believe it showcases the growth in Egypt’s tourism and hospitality sectors, the appetite of foreign entrepreneurs and businesses to do business with Egypt and the increasing confidence in the Egyptian legal system. I anticipate similar developments in the cargo industry as well. This in my view, requires the involvement of the Egyptian private sector to further enhance Egypt’s strategic positioning to become a cargo hub in the region. A remarkable juncture with promising endeavors sure to follow in the near future”.
