Maqta Gateway Acquires 60% Equity Stake in Dubai Technologies
Under the strategic guidance of Emil Pellicer, General Counsel of AD Ports Group (pictured), Maqta Gateway, the digital arm of AD Ports Group facilitating cutting-edge trade digitalization solutions, has successfully acquired 60 percent equity stake in Dubai Technologies, a trade and transportation solutions developer based in Dubai.
The acquisition, guided by Pellicer’s legal expertise, marks a significant milestone in Maqta Gateway’s expansion strategy, reinforcing its commitment to pioneering digital trade solutions. The total purchase consideration for the 60 percent shareholding amounts to AED28 million.
Dubai Technologies has demonstrated robust financial performance, recording revenues of AED70.5 million and EBITDA of AED8.4 million in FY2023. The company has built an impressive portfolio of solutions, including the Minato® intelligent ports’ operations management platform, four transportation platforms, and nine white-label solutions tailored for digitally focused government bodies across the region. These solutions are the result of collaborative efforts by the company’s 300+ team members based in the UAE and India.
Minato®, equipped with advanced digital twin technology for ports, is currently utilized by international port operators. Its integration with Maqta Gateway’s single window offering for ports’ digitalization is expected to enhance operational efficiency and realize cost synergies across all international ports managed by AD Ports Group.
Additionally, Dubai Technologies’ transportation platform, encompassing fleet management, passenger transportation, smart driving analytics, and waste transportation management, will bolster logistics efficiencies in hinterland and industrial zones’ operations, further solidifying Maqta Gateway’s position as a developer of leading-edge digital trade solutions.
This acquisition not only broadens Maqta Gateway’s digital trade portfolio but also extends its in-house capabilities and realizes cost synergies. The offshore development expertise of Dubai Technologies will be instrumental as Maqta Gateway continues its international expansion. Following the successful acquisition of TTEK Inc., Maqta Gateway has established an R&D hub in Vietnam.
Ahmed Alrafi, Founder of Dubai Technologies, will retain a 40% stake in the company, and the existing leadership team will continue to manage operations, driving strategic growth initiatives forward.
