Asafo & Co.’s Kearney appointed for second term at US Exim Bank
Jude Kearney, Managing Partner of Asafo & Co.‘s Washington DC office, has been appointed for a second term as Chairman of the Sub-Saharan Africa Advisory Committee at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. The committee’s primary focus is on trade- and investment-related matters in sub-Saharan African countries, providing valuable guidance to the US Exim Bank’s leadership regarding policies and programs for engaging with the region.
As a U.S. lawyer, Kearney has been at the forefront of developing dedicated Africa practices within U.S. firms and previously served as the chair of Africa practices at major international firms. With a career spanning two decades, he has exclusively advised clients in both the public and private sectors on Africa-based transactions, having lived on the African continent twice. Kearney is highly regarded for his extensive expertise in oil & gas, project finance, mergers and acquisitions, and privatizations in Africa.
Beyond his legal career, Kearney also holds significant experience in public service, serving in the Clinton Administration as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Service Industries and Trade Finance, where he played a crucial role as the chief advisor on African policies.
