Hassan Basil (pictured) has been appointed as the Chief Legal Officer at Majid Al Futtaim Holding, a renowned retail, leisure, communities, and shopping mall group operating across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
With this new role, Basil will oversee all legal and regulatory affairs of the company and provide legal counsel on various strategic matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, and alliances.
Bringing a wealth of experience to his new position, Hassan Basil has held significant legal roles in prominent organizations. Previously, he served as the General Counsel for Australia, Asia-Pacific, India, Middle East, and Africa at Mars. He also worked as the Associate General Counsel for Middle East, Africa, Central Asia, Turkey, Russia, and CIS at GE Healthcare.
As per his LinkedIn bio, Basil’s expertise as General Counsel across the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Russia for publicly traded General Electric (GE Healthcare) and privately held Mars is underscored by his early involvement as the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Dubai Science Park, formerly known as DuBiotech. During his tenure at Dubai Science Park, he played a pivotal role as the organization’s first in-house lawyer and was integral to its growth and development following substantial funding of $1 billion for construction and launch.
