Global Auto appointed as BMW Group importer in Egypt
BMW Group, premium manufacturer of luxurious, sporty, and electric automobiles, has appointed Global Auto Group as the new importer of BMW and MINI in Egypt.
Zaki Hashem & Partners (“ZH&P”) acted as the Egyptian Legal Counsel to Global Auto on the successful appointment.
ZH&P advised on the incorporation of Global Auto which is formed as a joint venture between Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive, Al Safy Group, Al Organi Group and Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors – noting that ZH&P advised Global Auto and Ali Alghanim & Sons Automotive in navigating and overcoming all legal and procedural challenges.
As part of its services, ZH&P advised Global Auto on all the relevant agreements signed with BMW and MINI as well as on all aspects of the acquisition of Bavarian Auto Group’s shares including undertaking the legal due diligence and drafting the transaction documents that enable Global Auto to both manufacture and import BMW vehicles. ZH&P also assisted Global Auto in acquiring new service centres and showrooms as part of its expansion.
M&A partner Hossam Hafez led ZH&P’s team of lawyers that comprised senior associates Mostafa EL Bastawissy and Aya Attia and associates Ahmed ElMolla, Khalid Al-Melegi and Youssef ElHadidy. For IP and data privacy related matters the team was led by TMT partner Dina Kamel and included counsel Mahmoud Youssef. The corporate procedure team was led by partner Helal El Hossary and comprised senior associates Mohamed Zaher and Mohamed Saeed.
Managing partner Yasser Hashem oversaw all matters related to the transaction until successful closure.
