Eni and NOC of Libya join forces to expand gas production

Eni CEO, Claudio Descalzi, and National Oil Corporation of Libya (‘NOC’) CEO, Farhat Bengdara, have come together to launch “Structures A&E,” a major gas development project in Libya. The aim is to boost gas production to meet domestic demand and supply Europe, with the project expected to have an impact on the industry and supply chain, contributing to the Libyan economy.

The project involves two main platforms tied to the Mellitah Complex and the construction of a Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facility, which will help reduce the overall carbon footprint, in line with Eni’s decarbonization strategy. The total estimated investment for the project is 8 billion USD.

The agreement was signed in the presence of the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dbeibah
