Egypt’s First High-speed Electric Rail Network agreement signed 

German rail mobility solutions provider, Deutsche Bahn International Operations (“Deutsche Bahn”), part of DB E.C.O. Group; and Elsewedy Electric have signed a 15 years operations and maintenance agreement with National Authority for Tunnels (“NAT”) for Egypt’s first electric high-speed rail.  

The project agreement, that was signed during the 27th Conference of the Parties (“COP27”) in Sharm El-Sheikh, strengthens Egypt’s aim of having environmentally friendly public transport and establishing an interconnected network across the country. 

The advisors 

Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy (“MBH”) acted as legal counsel to Deutsche Bahn International Operations and Elsewedy Electric together as the “Operator”. The team was led by Mahmoud S. Bassiouny, regional partner and head of finance & projects and included Nadia Abdallah, senior associate.  

 White & Case acted as the National Authority for Tunnels legal counsel.
