DP World Unveils Plans for Bharat Mart in Dubai
With Faisal Arekat (pictured), Group Senior Vice President of Legal, Governance & Company Secretary, at the helm of its legal team, DP World revealed plans for Bharat Mart, a premier Dubai marketplace scheduled to launch in 2026, providing Indian manufacturers and exporters with a top-notch platform to access global markets.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, along with His Excellency Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, inaugurated Bharat Mart during a ceremony at the World Governments Summit 2024.
Spanning 2.7 million square feet, with an initial phase covering 1.3 million square feet, Bharat Mart is set to become a major distribution center for Indian businesses, facilitating domestic trade in the UAE and re-exports to regional and global markets.
Situated in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza), Bharat Mart will integrate into DP World’s broader trade ecosystem, including the Dubai Traders Market, a hybrid retail and wholesale marketplace attracting traders worldwide.
Bharat Mart will feature 1,500 showrooms for retail and wholesale customers, along with over 700,000 square feet of Grade A warehousing space, offering tenants free zone and onshore benefits. Additionally, the facility will provide light industrial units, office spaces, and meeting facilities.
Conveniently located near Jebel Ali Port and Al Maktoum International Airport, Bharat Mart will offer seamless multimodal logistics solutions for Indian exporters, with direct connectivity to over 150 maritime destinations and air links to more than 300 cities through the Jebel Ali ecosystem.
Dubai’s pivotal role in UAE-India trade is underscored by the Emirate handling 87% or $44.9 billion of the total non-oil trade value of $51.4 billion in 2022. Jafza hosts nearly 1,500 Indian businesses, facilitating trade of over five million metric tonnes of cargo valued at $8.6 billion.
