DLA Piper and Al Lawati Law to expand legal services in Oman

DLA Piper strengthens Middle East service offering through a partnership with Mehdi Al Lawati Law Office (Al Lawati Law), an Omani law firm led by managing partner Mehdi Al Lawati (pictured), to offer seamless legal services to clients. The partnership will enhance DLA Piper’s current service offering in Oman and the wider Middle East region, where the firm has been operating for over 15 years.

Mehdi Al Lawati is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer who has been practicing in Oman for more than 16 years. His areas of expertise include Capital Market and Securities Law, restructuring and integration, M&A, and the establishment of investment funds. Al Lawati has advised clients in various sectors, including energy, securities, insurance, leasing, and financing. He regularly advises Omani listed companies, sovereign-owned entities, and private entities on governance and regulatory-related issues.

The collaboration with Al Lawati Law will complement DLA Piper’s existing local office in Muscat, and as an international law firm, DLA Piper provides coordinated business legal services across the Middle East region, along with access to the firm’s global network of offices.

Commenting on the association, Peter Somekh, regional managing partner, Middle East and Africa said: “Mehdi and his firm are a talented and well-respected team with significant expertise in corporate and commercial matters. Over the years, they have built up a robust presence in the Omani market. Working with Mehdi and his team will allow DLA Piper to build upon those relationships and further enhance its 15-year presence in Oman.”

Mehdi Al Lawati said: “My team and I are delighted to be collaborating with DLA Piper, one of the largest law firms in the Middle East. The firm has developed a significant practice in Oman, and I am confident that collaborating with each other in the region, coupled with DLA Piper’s worldwide presence and expertise, will provide a compelling regional offering. We look forward to a long and successful relationship.”
