Clyde & Co names 5 Dubai-based lawyers as Equity Partner

Clyde & Co has promoted 22 of its international lawyers to equity partner, effective 01 May 2023. The promotions reflect the firm’s continued broad growth across its regions and practices. Five promotions in Dubai, the highest figure to date in this office, is further evidence of growth across the MEA region following the opening of an associated office in Egypt in February 2023.   

The partner promotions also included two in APAC, two in Europe, four in North America and 13 in the UK. 

These promotions further strengthen the firm’s expertise and globally integrated offering, with promotions in Insurance, Projects & Construction, Real Estate, Disputes, Corporate, and Energy, Marine & Natural Resources.

Meet the partners: 

Alexa Hall – Dubai (Projects & Construction)  

Hall is a Legal Director within the Clyde & Co international projects & construction team based in the Dubai office. She has over a decade experience of advising on the legal aspects of construction & engineering projects in the Middle East. 

Hall has experience of a mix of contentious and non-contentious construction and projects work spanning across a broad spectrum of sector specialisms including infrastructure, transport (rail and airports), building / property development, leisure & retail. Clients include contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, professional consultants, developers, and public sector bodies engaged in projects located across MENA including the UAE, Qatar and Oman.  

Alexandra Lester – Dubai (Disputes)  

Lester is a solicitor, and a Legal Director in Clyde & Co’s Middle East Dispute Resolution Group, based in the Dubai office. She has extensive experience in technology, digital, media and telecommunications disputes. She co-manages Clyde & Co’s Technology and Digital sector group. 

Lester is a commercial litigation and arbitration lawyer with particular expertise in technology, digital, telecommunications and media disputes. She has practised law in the UK and UAE and has been based in Dubai advising clients in the Middle East since 2015.  

Sherif Maher – Dubai (Disputes)  

Maher is a Partner at Barakat, Maher & Partners in association with Clyde & Co and a Legal Director in Clyde & Co’s dispute resolution practice. He divides his time between the Dubai and Cairo offices. 

Maher advises both local and international clients on commercial contentious matters across the MENA region. He has extensive experience in complex, high value local and international disputes and his practice primarily focuses on resolving Middle East disputes arising out of commercial agreements. 

He further advises multinational corporations and government-owned entities in international commercial arbitrations under a variety of rules with a focus on arbitrations involving interests in the Middle East. He has a strong expertise on regional laws and procedures. 

Jeremy Munce – Dubai (Projects & Construction)  

Munce is a Legal Director in our Projects & Construction team based in Dubai. He has experience on advising and representing public and private sector clients on issues arising on major construction projects in the Middle East. 

Munce provides clients with commercially focussed advice on legal issues arising on all aspects of construction projects. His experience spans the property, mining and public infrastructure sectors, having advised clients on cases involving, amongst others, medium and high rise commercial and residential buildings, shopping centres, LNG onshore plants, closed and open cycle gas fired power stations, coal handling preparation plants, underground longwall systems, drill and blast operations, ship-loading facilities, onshore and offshore port marine works, rail maintenance facilities and roads. 

Leonard Soudagar – Dubai (Energy, Marine & Natural Resources) 

Soudagar is a Legal Director, based in Dubai, specialising in international arbitration and litigation. He is an experienced commercial disputes lawyer who began his career with Clyde & Co in 2012 and joined our Dubai office from the London office in 2014. 

He represents clients in a wide range of sectors, including energy and natural resources, marine, international trade and commodities, logistics, banking, insurance, defence, construction and engineering, TMT, real estate, retail and FMCG. 

The majority of his practice involves acting for corporates and financial institutions in international commercial arbitration, both institutional and ad-hoc.
