Al Tamimi & Company expands Korea Group with Alex Kim’s hire

Al Tamimi & Company has appointed Seung-Hyeon (‘Alex’) Kim (pictured) as a new partner in its Korea Group. With over 25 years of experience working with the South Korean public and private sector, Kim will play a key role in driving the growth and development of the firm’s Korea Group, which provides legal support to Korean companies doing business in the Middle East and North Africa.

This marks Al Tamimi & Company’s fourth Partner hire in 2023, following the promotion of six lawyers to partner earlier this year. With over 90 partners in total, the firm is well-positioned to continue its expansion in the region.

Alex Kim’s expertise in advising major Korean engineering, construction, and manufacturing companies on projects across the East Asian region, as well as his experience in areas such as international arbitration and litigation, construction, energy, and project finance, will be a valuable addition to the firm’s capabilities. The Korea Group, established in 2012, has a deep-rooted familiarity of the Korean corporate culture, and this is combined with firm’s local intelligence and proficiency of advising companies entering and establishing operations in the region.

“In Alex we have brought on board a lawyer with a wealth of experience and key client relationships that will enhance our Korean Group offering. Working alongside the team, Alex will add to the already highly proficient expertise we have within the Korea Group, and his appointment will not only strengthen our client offer, but will ensure that we keep a market-leading position and grow our brand, and clientele, across South East Asia and the Middle East and North Africa.” Said Samer Qudah, managing partner, Al Tamimi & Company.

“We have created a number of country focused teams that play a vital role to our success. These countries have been identified based on their interest in the Middle East and North African market and the opportunities to collaborate. Our country groups include China, India, Turkey, and a number of jurisdictions within Africa. These groups are vital to the firm’s ambitions and position us as the regional leader with international reach.” Concluded Samer Qudah.

Commenting, new partner Alex Kim said:

“I am delighted to have joined the leading law firm in the Middle East and North Africa. The Korea Group has an outstanding reputation in the market for providing expert advice and support to East Asian entities. I look forward to working with my colleagues and using my experience to support the ongoing efforts, and to offer the best legal and commercial advice in the market for Korean entities entering the Middle East and North Africa.”
