Bird & Bird with Oman Air on SalamAir acquisition

Bird & Bird — working alongside Oman-based Al Busaidy, Mansoor Jamal & Co — advised government-owned Oman Air, on its acquisition of local low-cost carrier SalamAir.

Pursuant to the deal, which involved the acquisition of 90% of SalamAir’s issued share capital, Oman Air and SalamAir will remain independent brands with separate identities, service propositions and target markets. SalamAir will keep operating in the low cost segment, while Oman Air will maintain in its position as the Sultanate’s full service national carrier.
