STC Bahrain Launches Instant Mobile SIM AI

In a significant technological leap forward, STC Bahrain, a leading digital enabler, has announced the launch of an innovative instant mobile SIM activation service powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and eSIM technology. This first-of-its-kind solution in the telecom sector leverages AI face recognition technology, offering a seamless and secure digital experience for customers.

The new service allows subscribers to activate their mobile SIM instantly by capturing a live photo using their smartphone’s camera for identity verification. This eliminates the need for physical documents and time-consuming verification processes, making the solution not only user-friendly but also eco-friendly.

The implementation of this AI-powered solution has been made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), highlighting the authority’s forward-thinking approach and extensive support.

Eng. Nezar Banabeela, stc Bahrain CEO, expressed his pride in being the first telecom operator to use AI facial recognition technology, stating that it solidifies Bahrain’s position in technology and innovation excellence. He also extended his gratitude to the TRA for their support in making this happen.

This initiative is expected to significantly contribute to Bahrain’s digital transformation agenda in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 economic vision. It also underscores stc Bahrain’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions that enrich the customer experience and enhance Bahrain’s digital journey.
