Meet the Newly Promoted Faces at Sharkawy & Sarhan

Sharkawy & Sarhan, has announced the promotion of four of its rising stars. Nesma Abdelbary, Youmna Fahmy, and Menna Abouzekry who have been elevated to pivotal positions within the legal team, while Mariam Ahmed has been recognized for her contributions as a Senior Accountant within the firm’s business operations. 

Nesma Abdelbary, now promoted to Counsel, has been an integral part of Sharkawy & Sarhan since July 2015. With a wealth of experience spanning general corporate and commercial matters, power and renewables, mergers and acquisitions, and project development, Abdelbary has made significant contributions to the firm’s success. Notable among her achievements is her involvement in advising prestigious institutions such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and PROPARCO on financing several solar PV projects under the Feed in Tariff program. Additionally, Abdelbary’s expertise extends to guiding multinational clients like Dell Technologies and ThyssenKrupp on various legal aspects of their operations. 

Youmna Fahmy, now appointed as a Senior Associate, joined Sharkawy & Sarhan in September 2018, bringing with her a focus on capital markets, oil and gas, power, renewables, and structured finance. Fahmy’s dedication and proficiency in handling complex matters have been evident in her involvement in high-profile transactions, including advising multinational clients such as Vodafone Group and Dell Technologies on M&A transactions in Egypt. Moreover, Fahmy has been instrumental in providing legal counsel to financial institutions and regulatory bodies like the Egyptian Ministry of Finance and EFG Hermes on their capital market activities. 

Menna Abouzekry, also promoted to Senior Associate, joined the firm in April 2019 and has since demonstrated her versatility across diverse industries. Abouzekry’s expertise in TMT matters, general corporate and commercial law, and employment issues has been pivotal in advising companies such as Henkel, Mitsubishi, and Amgen. Furthermore, her involvement in complex M&A transactions spanning pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, oil and gas, financial institutions, and information technology showcases her proficiency and strategic acumen. 

In addition to these legal promotions, Sharkawy & Sarhan recognizes Mariam Ahmed’s contributions as she assumes the role of Senior Accountant within the firm’s business team. Ahmed’s dedication and expertise in financial matters play a crucial role in supporting the firm’s operations and ensuring financial efficiency and transparency.
