Shalakany defends client in a dispute before Egyptian Courts

Shalakany has successfully defended its client, a hotel operator, in a court case brought against the client before an Egyptian court. The dispute stems from a hotel management agreement and involved allegations of contractual breach with claims for substantial compensation.
The case was filed at court in October 2022. Shalakany managed to secure a favourable decision from court in November 2022 confirming the inadmissibility of the case. The court accepted Shalakany’s arguments and analysis concerning the survival of an arbitration clause that was embedded in a different agreement between the disputing parties and its extension to the relevant hotel management agreement pursuant to which the dispute was pursued by opposing party.
The Shalakany team handling this matter is comprised of Muhammad Ussama (partner, pictured) and Mohamed El Zohery (associate).
