Trowers & Hamlins: RCSI Bahrain launches new solar farm project

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (“RCSI Bahrain”) has successfully completed the development and launch of its campus solar farm project.

Covering 12,000 sqm, the solar farm is expected to be completed in January 2023.

RCSI Bahrain is a constituent university of RCSI, which was established in Dublin, Ireland in 1784 and first opened in Bahrain in 2004. The independent private university is a not-for-profit health sciences institution. Delivering a sustainable business is central to RCSI Bahrain’s ethos.

International law firm Trowers & Hamlins, led by Bahrain based partner Abdulhaq Mohammed (infrastructure and real estate, pictured), advised RCSI Bahrain on the development of the right contractual structure for the proposed rooftop solar panel project, taking into account how to ensure the project fit within the Government of Bahrain’s evolving regulations on solar energy. Alongside RCSI Bahrain’s technical consultants, Trowers then advised on the tender process and helped to negotiate and finalise contracts with the preferred bidder, Almoayyed International Group.
