Shearman & Sterling welcomes Omar Alkaffas to its partnership
Global law firm Shearman & Sterling has announced the election of Omar Alkaffas (pictured) as a Project Development & Finance (PDF) partner in Abu Dhabi.
Alkaffas advises governments on strategic, regulatory, and fiscal matters, corporates and financial institutions on joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions and project development and finance transactions. He has advised on several complex transactions in the energy and infrastructure sectors, including government concessions, restructurings of value-chains and carve-outs of businesses in connection with debt and equity capital markets transactions and long-term supply contracts.
“Omar has made valuable contributions to our PDF practice, and we are delighted to have him take on this new role,” said David Beveridge, senior partner at Shearman & Sterling. “His election to the partnership is part of our commitment to strengthening our business in the Middle East and our long-term strategy to grow core practice areas globally through recognizing and rewarding internal talent as well as attracting lateral partners.”
Commenting on Omar’s election to the partnership, Ben Shorten, Global PDF Practice Group Leader, said: “Omar’s much-deserved promotion is recognition of his strong track record advising clients on a broad range of market leading transactions. He has been a valued member of the firm since the beginning of his legal career, and we are confident that he will continue to provide excellent service to our clients in this new role.”
