NMDC Group appoints Amal Rakibi as chief legal officer

NMDC Group, an Abu Dhabi-based marine and energy engineering contractor listed on ADX, has appointed Amal Rakibi (pictured) as group chief legal officer. Rakibi, who took up the post this month, announced the move on LinkedIn.

She joins from Borouge, the Abu Dhabi-listed petrochemicals company, where she was general counsel and company secretary from November 2023, advising executives and supporting the board and executive committee. Her work included mergers and acquisitions and the reorganisation of the legal department.

Rakibi served more than 14 years at oilfield-services multinational Schlumberger, in roles based in Paris, Algiers, London, Houston, Pointe-Noire and Dubai. Her postings ranged from legal counsel for North Africa to general counsel for Sub-Saharan Africa, covering 37 countries, and for the Middle East and North Africa. In 2021 she moved to AirAsia in Kuala Lumpur as chief legal officer, working on restructuring and joint ventures before joining Borouge.

NMDC did not immediately comment beyond Rakibi’s announcement.
