Mohamed Zaanouni new Dentons’ Africa Region CEO

As of January 2025, Mohamed Zaanouni (pictured), managing partner at Dentons Zaanouni, will succeed Noor Kapdi as CEO of Dentons’ Africa Region concluding the leadership transition process started in September 2024. This follows Noor Kapdi’s decision to step down as regional CEO at the end of his current term, a role he has held since 2017. Kapdi will remain at Dentons as Partner and non-executive Chairman of the Africa Region Board.

The profiles

Zaanouni, managing partner at Dentons Zaanouni since its 2022 merger with Dentons, specializes in company acquisitions, equity investments, and partnerships for foreign investors in Tunisia. He replaces Noor Kapdi, founding partner of law firm KapdiTwala, which merged with Dentons in 2012. Kapdi also chaired Dentons South Africa and co-chairs the global ESG practice.

Mohamed Zaanouni’s election as Africa CEO follows Kate Barton’s appointment as Global CEO and tracks with Dentons’ expansion plans in Africa. As of September 2024, the firm has announced new offices in Cameroon, DR Congo, Ethiopia, and Senegal, to open in 2025.
