MBH Triumphs in Oil and Gas Arbitration
Matouk Bassiouny and Hennawy (“MBH”) Arbitration Group secured a significant victory with the successful resolution of a dispute for a global market leader in the oil and gas industry. This industry giant operates on a global scale, engaging in various oil and gas-related activities, including well drilling.
The conflict stemmed from a contractual agreement concerning the drilling of wells for a major processing plant. Initiated in late 2022 at the Cairo Regional Center for International Commercial Arbitration, the arbitration proceedings were brought forth by MBH’s client, focusing on claims for unpaid dues and compensation.
The settlement secured for the client amounted to 100% of its dues, surpassing EGP 80 million. Additionally, the client received reimbursement for the arbitration fees incurred. This notable success underscores MBH’s strategic approach, prioritizing swift and cost-effective solutions to ensure clients promptly receive their dues.
The team consisted of Amr Abbas (Partner and Head of Arbitration, pictured), Mohamed Sallam (Counsel), Mohamed Samy (Senior Associate), and Maha Zain (Associate).
