MBH on AfricInvest’s investment in the British University in Egypt
Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy (“MBH”) acted as the lead legal counsel to AfricInvest in connection with its investment in the British University in Egypt (“BUE”) to boost the university’s growth plans.
The team advising on the matter was led by Nevine Abou Alam (Partner, pictured), Khaled Ghanem (Counsel), and Fatma Akram (Associate).
The British University in Egypt (“BUE”) was established as a result of a 1998 Memorandum of Cooperation between the governments of Egypt and the United Kingdom. Since its modest beginnings in September 2005 with just 200 undergraduate students, BUE has experienced significant growth and development. In 2022, the university celebrated several key achievements, including the launch of a partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the establishment of a collaboration with the Egyptian Stock Exchange, which also involved the inauguration of its Financial Lab.
