Latham & Watkins Elevates 19 Counsel to Partnership 

Global law firm Latham & Watkins has welcomed 19 counsel to the partnership, effective March 1. These promotions highlight the firm’s commitment to excellence and client service across various practice areas. 

This announcement follows the recent election of 34 associates to the partnership, effective January 1, 2024, further strengthening the firm’s leadership team.

Among the newly elected partners in the MENA Region are Marc Makary and Derek McKinley. 

Marc Makary (Riyadh, pictured right): Makary is a member of the Finance Department and the Project Development & Finance Practice. He specializes in international project development and financing transactions, strategic joint ventures, and network infrastructure projects. Marc has extensive experience advising clients in various industries, including infrastructure, communications, power and water, and oil and gas. 

Derek McKinley (Riyadh, pictured left): McKinley is a member of the International Project Finance Association’s Middle East chapter and has served on the firm’s Recruiting Committee and First Generation Professionals Committee. He advises government-related procurers, lenders, and sponsors on complex energy and infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. With over 15 years of experience in the GCC,  

McKinley provides deep insights into the successful development and execution of projects in sectors such as oil and gas, utilities, transport, and social infrastructure. He is also actively involved in thought leadership initiatives and pro bono work, focusing on public issues like refugee rights and climate change.
