Karim El Tantawi named head of legal at DP World Trade Finance 

DP World Trade Finance has appointed Karim El Tantawi (pictured) as the new Head of Legal. With over 13 years of experience in the legal field, El Tantawi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position. 

Before joining DP World Trade Finance, El Tantawi served as the first Head of Legal at Zand digital bank. During his tenure at Zand, El Tantawi built an in-house digital banking legal department, demonstrating his ability to lead and build effective teams. Prior to that, he served as a senior manager, Legal at United Arab Bank, where he gained extensive experience in transactional banking, financial institutions, corporate and investment banking, islamic finance, securities and commodities, project finance and trade finance. 

El Tantawi’s experience also includes working as an Associate in banking and finance at Al Tamimi & Company law firm’s Qatar and UAE offices, where he advised clients on drafting and negotiating major commercial local and international agreements and transactions. He also served as an associate at Arab Legal Consultants in Egypt, where his practice focused on providing legal advice on a wide range of industries, including finance, banking, hotel management, real estate, FMCG, pharmaceutical, industrial, oil and gas, investment and construction projects. 

With his extensive experience in advising clients in connection with major energy, hotel management, infrastructure, investment and construction projects, El Tantawi is well-positioned to lead the legal team at DP World Trade Finance. He has represented clients in courts and international arbitrations under various rules, including those of the ICC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, and CRCICA. His proven ability to provide sound legal advice and effective representation in disputes makes him an invaluable asset to the organization.
