Promotions at HFW: New Partners and Legal Directors 

Global law firm HFW has announced the promotion of seven new Partners and five new Legal Directors, effective April 1, 2024. 

These promotions mark HFW’s ongoing growth across its international network and key sectors, spanning the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, particularly within its global commodities, dispute resolution, insurance, and shipping groups. 

Since the start of FY23, HFW has welcomed over 35 new Partners, including several team acquisitions in Australia and additional lateral hires in Hong Kong, London, Paris, Riyadh, and Singapore. The firm has also recently inaugurated an office in Shenzhen to better serve clients in China’s Greater Bay Area.

Among the promotions, Rami Al Tal (Shipping, Dubai, pictured left) has been elevated to Partner. Al Tal specializes in assisting clients with a wide range of legal matters, including debt recovery, banking disputes, shareholder disputes, labor disputes, and shipping disputes. 

Furthermore, Luke Garrett (Insurance and Reinsurance, Dubai, pictured right) has been promoted to Legal Director. Garrett provides counsel on various insurance-related issues, such as insurance claims, subrogated recoveries, and coverage matters within marine, trade credit, liability, cyber, and property insurance sectors. He is actively involved in international arbitrations and complex litigations in English High Courts, DIFC, and ADGM Courts, in addition to supervising local UAE court litigation.
