UAE’s Etihad Rail signs four MoUs during Innotrans

UAE’s national railway network Etihad Rail has entered into four memorandum of understandings (MoUs) with SNCF International, Alstom, Thales Group and Progress Rail at the InnoTrans exhibition in Berlin, Germany.

The agreements come as part of Etihad Rail’s determination to develop technologies that support achieving smart and sustainable mobility.

The MoUs will help to further advance the growth of the rail sector in the UAE.

Under the signed MOUs:

  • Etihad Rail and SNCF International will focus on the areas of railway operations, train maintenance and training sessions, design, development, and operation of rail projects in the UAE.
  • Etihad Rail and Alstom will focus on the integration of advanced technologies and services in the railway sector.
  • Etihad Rail and Thales will focus on the new generation rail control, connectivity and passenger entertainment system, as well as booking and ticketing system to support and resolve any challenges customers might face.
  • Etihad Rail and Progress Rail will focus on the development and implementation of an autonomous and zero-emissions port-to-port concept to act as the base for future rail operations across the globe.
