CMS advises Aldar Properties in London Square Acquisition

International law firm CMS has offered comprehensive legal counsel to Aldar Properties (Aldar), a prominent real estate developer, investor, and manager based in the UAE, in its acquisition of London Square Developments for an enterprise value of £230 million. This strategic move represents Aldar’s inaugural venture beyond the MENA region, marking its foray into the UK housing developer market. The acquisition positions the United Kingdom, particularly London Square, as a focal point in Aldar’s global expansion strategy, leveraging the robust foundations of both the UK market and London Square.

London Square, recognized as a premier residential and mixed-use developer operating predominantly in Greater London, boasts a diverse portfolio and specializes in delivering homes across various tenures, including its status as a registered provider of affordable housing—a pivotal segment in London Square‘s operations.

John O’Connor, Partner at CMS Dubai, expressed enthusiasm regarding the firm’s involvement in this pivotal acquisition: “We are thrilled to have advised our longstanding client on this strategic acquisition, marking a significant milestone for Aldar. Our success in facilitating this project stemmed from our ability to assemble a multidisciplinary, cross-border team spanning the UAE and the UK, equipped with extensive experience in navigating complex transactions of this nature. We eagerly anticipate Aldar’s trajectory as it continues to advance its growth initiatives.”

The CMS advisory team was led by John O’Connor (Pictured), Alan Crawford and Neil Lacey (both Real Estate), receiving support from Kiren Matharu, Stephen Kilshaw, and a contingent of over 60 other proficient CMS legal professionals across the UK and UAE.
