Clifford Chance Guides SC Ventures-SBI Holdings Joint Venture

Global law firm, Clifford Chance, has advised SC Ventures, the innovation and fintech investment arm of Standard Chartered, on its collaboration with SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial conglomerate. Together, they are establishing a digital asset joint venture investment company in the United Arab Emirates. 

The joint venture aims to invest in various companies within the digital assets realm, covering markets infrastructure, risk and compliance tools, DeFi, tokenisation, consumer payments, and the Metaverse. It plans to make global investments ranging from seed to Series C funding, with an initial capitalization of US$100 million. 

The Clifford Chance team advising on the transaction was jointly led by Dubai based partners, Deniz Tas (pictured right) and Jack Hardman (pictured left), with support from senior associates Gareth Dray, Mhairi Cruickshank and Tom Lloyd, and associate Josh Morrison
