Ashraf Abdelhamid named CEO, Group Legal at NBE

Ashraf Abdelhamid (pictured) has been promoted to CEO, Group Legal at the esteemed National Bank of Egypt (NBE). With his new role, Abdelhamid assumes leadership of the legal function within NBE in Egypt and on a global scale. 

Ashraf Abdelhamid is a highly accomplished legal professional with over two decades of experience in the banking industry. Prior to his appointment at NBE, Abdelhamid served as the Regional Legal Counsel and Group Board Secretary at Arab Banking Corporation in Bahrain. In this role, he played a pivotal role in overseeing the legal function within the MENA region, in addition to serving as the Group Board Secretary. 

Abdelhamid’s journey also led him to hold the position of Chief Legal & Compliance Officer and General Secretariat of Alexbank – Intesa Sanpaolo; as well as a significant contribution to the National Bank of Egypt as its General Counsel. Tasked by the Central Bank of Egypt, 

Abdelhamid kick-started his legal career at CIB, where he focused on handling corporate legal matters for the bank. This early experience laid a solid foundation for his subsequent accomplishments in the legal field, holding numerous prominent roles in high profile banking establishments.
