Almarai Welcomes Spyros Zampelis as Group General Counsel
Almarai, a vertically integrated dairy business listed on the Tadawul stock exchange with a substantial market cap of 15 USD billion, has appointed Spyros Zampelis as its Group General Counsel. With over 22 years of legal experience spanning Greece, the UK, and Switzerland, Zampelis is set to play a pivotal role in leading the Corporate Legal Department of this food industry giant based in Riyadh.
Zampelis brings a wealth of experience to Almarai, having previously served for eleven years as the Senior Corporate Counsel at Coca-Cola HBC AG, headquartered in Switzerland. In this role, he actively contributed to supporting strategic M&A projects across 29 countries in Eurasia, Europe, and Africa. Zampelis also handled responsibilities related to the Board and Board Committees, listing compliance requirements vis-à-vis the LSE and ATHEX, and various regional roles. His career commenced at Norton Rose Fulbright, where he spent a decade in the Corporate Finance Department, engaged in prominent public and private equity and debt transactions, as well as regulatory banking and insurance deals in the UK, Greece, and the US.
Spyros Zampelis’ professional journey is characterized by a diverse and accomplished background in both private practice and in-house positions. His dedication to people development, commitment to cross-functional collaboration, and profound understanding of business strategy uniquely position him to lead the legal department of the Saudi-headquartered FMCG giant. Almarai operates across all GCC countries, Egypt, Jordan, Romania, the US (Arizona and California), and Argentina in South America.
