Akin adds Dougall and Bandeira Vieira as partners in Middle East

Akin has expanded its investment management practice in the Middle East with the addition of two partners, Andrea Dougall in Abu Dhabi and Marie-Sophie Bandeira Vieira in Dubai. The pair, who worked together previously, reunite at Akin to build out the firm’s alternative investments offering across the Gulf Cooperation Council region. Dougall joins Akin from Morgan Lewis, where she was a partner in the investment management practice. Bandeira Vieira joins from White & Case, where she was a partner in the global investment funds group.

Backgrounds and practice focus

Dougall has been based in the region for more than 12 years, representing sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and other institutional investors on global fund investments. Her practice covers investments in open and closed-ended funds, separately managed accounts, co-investments, joint ventures and other bespoke investment structures across the alternative investment space.

Bandeira Vieira advises sponsors on the structuring, formation and operation of private investment funds across asset classes, supporting clients through the full fund life cycle from regulatory licensing and authorization to launch and ongoing compliance. She also advises sovereign wealth funds, pension funds and other institutional investors on private fund investments, co-investments, separately managed accounts and other bespoke investment platforms.
