39 Essex Chambers opens Dubai office

39 Essex Chambers has opened a new office in Dubai at the start of May. The new location will be led by Stephen Burke (pictured), who joins 39 Essex Chambers from Addleshaw Goddard, where he served as co-head of Construction, Middle East, in Dubai. Nicholas Higgs, a qualified civil engineer before joining 39 Essex Chambers in 2018, will also be based in the new office.

In addition, Madelaine Power is joining the chambers from Pinsent Masons, bringing a decade of experience working in Dubai, Oman and London. She specialises in international arbitration and construction in the Gulf.

The Dubai office will work across construction, infrastructure, AI/crypto, sport, energy, commercial, nuclear, and public and private international law, including investment disputes. The office will also represent before international arbitration tribunals and in the DIFC, ADGM and QFC courts.
