Winston & Strawn and Taylor Wessing UK to merge in 2026

The partnerships of Winston & Strawn and Taylor Wessing’s UK have voted decisively in favor of merging the firms into Winston Taylor. The combined firm is expected to launch officially in May 2026.

The new entity will include more than 1,400 lawyers, primarily across the United States, the United Kingdom, and Europe, as well as Latin America and the Middle East.

The new course

Shane Gleghorn (pictured left), managing partner of Taylor Wessing UK, will serve as managing partner of Europe and the Middle East for Winston Taylor and will become a member of its executive committee. Steve D’Amore (pictured right), chairman of Winston, will continue as chairman of the combined firm.

The context

As part of the combination, Taylor Wessing’s Netherlands and Belgium offices voted to enter into an agreement to operate under the Winston Taylor brand. Furthermore, the Netherlands and Belgian offices will fully integrate into a single firm with Winston Taylor’s US and UK operations.

Winston Taylor has also agreed to a cooperation and referral arrangement with the legacy Taylor Wessing verein in Germany and other jurisdictions to ensure continuity of service to clients going forward, following a period of partner-led integration
